Ducati Diavel Owners Manual: Storing the bike away

If the motorcycle is to be left unridden over long periods, it is advisable to carry out the following operations before storing it away: clean the motorcycle; empty the fuel tank; pour a few drops of engine oil into the cylinders through the spark plug bores, then turn the engine over by hand a few times to form a protective film of oil on the inner walls of the cylinder; place the motorcycle on a service stand; disconnect and remove the battery.

If the motorcycle has been left unused for more than a month, the battery should be checked and recharged if necessary.

Protect the motorcycle with a specific motorcycle cover that will not damage the paintwork or retain moisture.

This type of motorcycle cover is available from ducati performance.
